"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

Sunday School

Friends in Christ,

The Christian Education ministry team will continue to use of the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum.  The program is called Seasons Encore.  It is a multi-age program for children 5 to 12 years of age that follows our United Church of Christ lectionary.  In September, we studied the "Season of Creation" with a focus on the relationship between God, people and the earth.  Themes included the forest, the land, the wilderness and river studies.  In October and November we resumed our study of Pentecost.  December, January and February lessons will focus on Advent, Christmas and Epiphany.  March, April and May lessons will focus on Lent and Easter.

Sunday school begins with the lighting of the altar candles.  We hold hands and say a prayer for the children of the world.  When the candles are extinguished, we ask the children to share what has gone on in their lives for the past week.  We then have the older children read the scripture lesson and discuss what it means.  We then do a craft which reinforces the lesson.  These can be taken home and shared with parents.  We end our lessons with The Lord's Prayer.

We have three youth/teens engaged in "Confirmation" studies.  Instruction is led by Pastor Wally and Jeff Parsons.  Confirmation Sunday is planned for May 6, 2018.  We have thirteen children in our Sunday school program and four children in our nursery.  In observation of safe church practices, we have two adults supervising or teaching in each location each Sunday.

A calendar of Sunday School events is available on request.
